Press Briefing - Update on the implementation of the immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand
Keynote Address by H.E. LTG. Maly Socheata, Ministry of National Defense Spokesperson:
1.Cambodia continues to strictly uphold the ceasefire agreement. Since it came into effect, there have been no armed clashes, no changes in troop positions, and no increase or mobilization of weapons. Cambodia remains unwavering in its commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
2. As of 11:00 AM, August 2025, the Thai side has not yet repatriated the 20 Cambodian military personnel. In this regard, Cambodia reiterates its call for the Thai side to take all necessary measures to ensure the prompt return of these 20 personnel, as well as any other Cambodian forces that may be under Thai custody. At the same time, Cambodia remains fully committed to pursuing negotiations to the fullest extent possible to secure their swift and safe return.
3. The Royal Government, the Armed Forces, and the people of Cambodia stand united in defending Cambodia’s territory, dignity, and sovereignty. We remain firmly committed to resolving the dispute peacefully through legal and diplomatic means, and to implementing the ceasefire between the Cambodian and Thai armed forces with clarity, honesty, integrity, thoroughness, and unwavering determination. The Royal Government of Cambodia, together with the Armed Forces, committe to improving the situation as soon as possible.
4.The Ministry of National Defense urges journalists and all social media users to refrain from sharing information, images, or videos that lack credible sources. Cambodia also calls on Thai media and social media users to immediately stop disseminating false or misleading information that leads to heightened tensions. Such actions do not reflect the genuine intentions of either country to resolve the situation peacefully and to restore calm and stability for the people on both sides of the border.
