Morning Press Briefing - Update on the implementation of the immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand

Intervention by H.E. Pen Bona, Royal Government Spokesperson:

1. On the night of 26th July 2025, Samdech Thipadei, Prime minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, had a phone call discussion with the Honourable Donald Trump, President of the United States, concerning the arm clashes along Cambodia-Thailand border. President Donald Trump proposed immediate ceasefire and Samdech Thipadei agreed. After that President Donald Trump also had a conversation with the acting Prime minister of Thailand Phumtham Wechayachai, and conveyed that the Thai side also agrees to this proposal for an immediate ceasefire.

2. Afterward, the Malaysian prime minister, the current ASEAN chair, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim mediated and organised the special meeting on 28th July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that was hosted by Malaysia, co-organised by the United States of America and actively participated by the Republic of China.

3. Through the meeting and the active of participation all relevant parties, we can understand that the results are immensely essential not only maintaining peace between two countries but also for ensuring long-term sustainable peace.
